Pavel Bure Wristwatch (1903)

July 25, 2018

Short description of watch
The watch has original Art Deco 14k Gold case which signed Pavel Bure and serial number: 72 288. This serial number dates this watch 1903 as per published production numbers. This is a “NAIL SET” watch so you don’t pull the crown out to set the time. Instead, you press the little button below the crown in and then move the crown to set the hands, releasing the button once you’re finished. It’s easy, so don’t worry about getting the hang of it! On face side, dome glass is plastic.

Technical information:
Diameter of the case with crown: 35 mm
Diameter of the case: 32x45 mm
Diameter of the dial: 25x39 mm
Thickness: 12 mm
Band size: 16 mm

  1. Hi, Could you please check that this watch is from 1903?

I have seen a similar watch sell for $25 from 1970s, and this exact watch (with the exact serial number) selling for $2500 on Ebay.

The Cartier Tonneau, which many consider the first Tonneau watch was released in 1906.

It is surprising that this watch predates the Cartier Tonneau.

Perhaps this an issue with movement serial number vs case serial number? The serial number mentioned is engraved on the case and not the movement; is this how Pavel Bure watch serials work?

Please let me know. I am looking to get an early tonneau model, and am unsure about whether this is indeed one.

    Thank you
